Polish Afternoon 23.05.2019

On the 23rd of May 2019 we had our second EAL day. This time we celebrated our children who have Polish as a home language or first language. We have 13 children at Southglade. We wanted them to have an opportunity to embrace their first language and educate the other children in their classes. The children could also come into school wearing their Polish football kits or wear Red and White (colours that represent the Polish flag). During the Polish afternoon the children learnt basic Polish language that was mostly taught by our Polish speaking children. Learnt facts about Poland and used this knowledge to make art. Afterwards the children were treated to traditional Polish foods at a special tea party.

In Year 1 the children learnt all about colours with unique teaching by Fabian. Then produced these beautiful rainbows using their Polish colour knowledge.

Kryspin who is in year 5 taught 3 classes all the basics of Polish including colours, numbers and greetings. We wouldn't have had such an informative afternoon without him.
