Well Being Activity
Today, we would like you to complete a Cosmic Yoga session. There are lots of different sessions on YouTube, we have put links to a couple below but please search for one you would like to do. Take some time together to work on this together as a family, relax and zone in.
Maths
Starter
Today you need to practise counting up to 70 in 2s, 5s and 10s.
Fluency Friday
Today is Fluency Friday. Your first task is to take your Gem Maths test (these are still in the Gem Maths page link from the main Year One page of the website). Remember, you have three minutes and are not allowed to use anything to help you (apart from your fingers if you need to but we are trying to do them in our heads where possible). If you score 19 or 20, you can move on to the next level.
Once you have completed that, we are going to think about worded problems again.
This week you have been finding the answers to worded problems that I have been setting. To show your understanding of worded problems, you are going to make up some yourselves.
Below I have written some number sentences. Your job is to make up a worded problem to go with each number sentence.
1. 10-3=
2. 6+7=
3. 17-8=
4. 4+6=
5. 9-6=
An example for the first might be A film finished at 10pm. It was 3 hours long. What time did it start?
Email us examples of your questions and we will try to answer them!
English
Spellings (Y1 Common Exception Words) - our, house, full, pull, push
Remember to learn to read and write the words independently
Activity - Today we would like you to have a look at the information below all about architects who build houses and answer the questions. This explores your comprehension understanding. Don't forget to look through the text to find the information you need to answer the question. If you can print it then underline or highlight the information you need from the text to help you answer the question.
Below are some comprehension questions you may prefer to read through and answer verbally or give written answers
Activity - Memory Game
Today we would like you to take part in a memory game called 'Kim's Game'. For this game you put a few items on the table, allow your child to look at them, cover them, take one away then uncover it and your child has to guess what is missing. You can then take away two items and see how your child does. Good luck and enjoy this memory retention game.
Phonics and Reading
We would like you to click on the videos below and watch the phonics lessons from Letters and Sounds. Activities which you can do to apply the sound are in the video and there are also linked underneath.
After, please watch the videos on the phonics resource and support section which practices all your phonics sounds using the flashcards which we use at school. Have a go at saying the sounds along with Miss Smith. Make sure you are saying the pure sounds accurately.
Don't forget to read your book everyday.
