Planning
Today you are going to focus on planning your own poem. Use what you have learnt from last week to support you with this. You are aiming to use similes, metaphors and rhyming words in your poem so take your time to think carefully about what your poem will look like.
Things to remember:
- Your poem needs to have stanzas/paragraphs with 4 lines in each.
- The last word on the first and second line must rhyme.
- The last word on the third and fourth line must rhyme.
- Similes compare something to another using like or as.
- Metaphors say that something is something else.
Challenge: Can you use personification in your poem? This means giving an object a human quality.
Use the WAGOLL and hieroglyphics mat below to help you plan. You will also find the teacher video here to support you- https://southglade.primarysite.media/media/010321-english-lesson-1
