Mummifying a tomato
We learnt about the ancient Egyptian belief in the afterlife. We discovered that the belief in an afterlife resulted in the Egyptians carrying out the mummification process for their Pharaohs and elite members of society. Vital organs would be removed from the body and placed in canopic jars and the bodies would then be filled with natron and wrapped in linen in order to preserve it.
We mummified our own tomatoes.
1. First, we cleaned our tomatoes using anti-bacterial hand wash.
2.Then, we made a small incision and scooped out the tomato seeds.
3. After that, we cleaned the inside of the tomato and filled it with salt and bicarbonate of soda.
We will leave the tomatoes for two weeks and see what happens!
