I understand how healthy nutrition supports my body and mind
The 7 main nutrient groups are:
carbohydrates
fats
protein
fibre
vitamins
minerals
water
How does each nutrient group help the body?
carbohydrates - needed for energy
protein - needed for growth and repair
fat - needed for energy and keeping warm
fibre - needed for regular bowel movements
vitamins - needed for staying healthy and fighting disease
minerals - needed for blood, bones, muscles and teeth
water - needed for dissolving salts and washing out things that the body does not need
