Starter Activities
As usual, do a bit of Gem Maths practice. Get help if you need it as it is practice. Then we are going to keep working on those numbers between 50 and 60. Your grown up will say a number between 50 and 60 and you will write it down in numerals. How many can you get in one minute?
Subtraction - Finding the difference
Today we are going to explore another form of subtraction - finding the difference. This is when you compare two quantities and find the difference between them. Sometime it is difficult to understand that this is a form of subtraction as you are not 'taking away'.
Here is an example of a 'finding the difference' question.
It is important to make the link between language such as 'how many more/less' and it being a subtraction problem. Comparing two quantities physically make it easier to see what the difference is.
Get your grown up to set you a finding the difference problem using things from around you home.
Now try these questions.
Reasoning and Problem Solving Challenges
Hint: There are six possible answers.
Send us examples of your work so we can see how you are getting on.
English
Spellings (Y1 Common Exception Words) - he, be, we, me, she
Remember to learn to read and write the words independently
Activity - Having thought about different adjectives for the Three Little Pigs' houses and written these into sentences earlier in the week, can you use this knowledge to record similarities and differences between the different houses. Remember to think about including those adjectives and what you found out earlier in the week.

Activity - Science
Can you click back in to the Science section on the previous page and complete the activity linked to materials, the topic we have been working on during the previous term.
Phonics and Reading
We would like you to click on the videos below and watch the phonics lessons 'ue', 'ur' and 'Blending with u' from Letters and Sounds. Activities which you can do to apply the sound are in the video and there are also linked underneath.
After, please watch the videos on the phonics resource and support section which practices all your phonics sounds using the flashcards which we use at school. Have a go at saying the sounds along with Miss Smith. Make sure you are saying the pure sounds accurately.
Don't forget to read your book everyday.
