Spelling

Today we are going to be looking at a new suffix! The suffix we are learning about today is the suffix -ly. We add ly to an adjective (describing word) to make an adverb (a word that describes a verb).

Today we are going to be looking at 2 rules.

1) just add ly to the root word

2) swap the y for an i and add ly.

Today we are going to be focussing on the first rule. Have a look at the adjectives below. Can you turn them into adverbs by adding -ly?

sad

bright

late

slow

Could you write some silly sentence using our new adverbs?

English

In our story, Sir Scallywag is a hero. He is kind, resillient, caring, selfless and brave. Sir Scallywag defeats the enemy to save King Colin's golden underpants.

Today I would like you to do some research. What other heroes can you think of? Can you think of some real-life heroes such as nurses, as well as fictional heroes such as Superman?

Perhaps, you can think of some historic heroes. These are people who throughout history have helped others or shown bravery.

When you have some ideas of different heroes, can you create a poster showcasing all the heroes you know. Be creative with this project!

After you have had a think about some different heroes, have a look at this video of Sir Captain Tom Moore. Why do you think he is called a hero? What did he do that is heroic?

Maths

Today in class we are making shapes from cocktail sticks and sweeties, but at home you can sue whatever you like! Watch Miss Storer's lesson below, then use the 3D shape cards to help you create some shapes. Have a go at drawing them too!
