'Believe to Achieve'

Summer1

Foundation Stage Newsletter : Summer 1

Dear Parents,

Welcome back! We hope you all had a lovely Easter holiday filled with lots of spring walks and the occasional Easter egg too!  The children have all come back really settled and keen to learn! We have had a wonderful first week back and the children have enjoyed sharing what they got up to over the Easter break with their friends.

Warmer Weather

As we start to transition from Spring to Summer and we (hopefully!) get to enjoy some sunnier weather we would like to remind you of what the children need to get them through the warmer days at school. We recommend sending your child in to school with a labelled bottle of fresh water of everyday for them to stay hydrated. Fruit juice and other soft drinks are not permitted. Hats are actively encouraged for warmer days and the children are also permitted to bring in their own bottle of sun cream, labelled with their name. Please note, children must be able to apply their own sun cream as staff will not be able to assist them with this.

Curriculum

Our focus book for this half term is Dogger by Shirley Hughes. We will be learning all about toys from the past and the present and deepening our understanding of numbers to 20. We are also going to start using our phonics and tricky words to help us write sentences within a wider variety of contexts.

Reading

Please remember to record in your child’s reading diary whenever you hear them read at home. The children are all really keen to collect stars for their Reading Owls, after reading three times in a week.

Diary Dates

Monday 3rd May 2021 – May day bank holiday

Guinea Pigs

If you would like to offer a loving home to our foundation stage guinea pigs for the weekend, please speak to a member of foundation stage staff or pop your name on the guinea pig sign up list. They come with everything that you need to take care of them for the weekend, but you will need to provide them with lots of cuddles and strokes!

If you require any more information or have any questions for us, please don’t hesitate to ask!

Kind regards.

The F2 team.
