In Maths, we have been learning about shape. This week we have focused on 3D shapes. The children created their own 3D shapes using marshmallows and spaghetti.
The children worked in groups to create their own volcanoes using paper mache. We made these volcanoes erupt by creating a chemical reaction by mixing an acid (vinegar) and an alkali (baking powder). First we filled the bottle inside of the volcano half full with water. Next, we added 3 tea spoons of baking powder and washing up liquid. Then, we added a quarter of a cup of white vinegar which made the volcanoes erupt.
This half term we had an afternoon learning all about Poland. Filip taught us about what life was like in Poland and helped us to learn some Polish phrases. The children learnt some colours in Polish and created their own flower applying what they had learnt.
