At Southglade, our book based curriculum offers a range of curriculum topics which have strong links to Britain both past and present. As a school, we encourage knowledge of current affairs that are significant to us as a nation. 

We use Picture News to support with teaching current and up to date issues, and this is used as a platform for our weekly classroom discussions.

Across all years groups we have a big focus on the United Nations Rights of the Child. We have discussions about how our curriculum links to different articles and why these are significant and how they link to the British Values.

Our progression ladders further support the curriculum we plan linked to developing British Values as we look for ways to interweave the key concepts in to all aspects of teaching and opportunities for our pupils.
