  We had the ELS Van visit Southglade all day on Friday. All children from F2 to Year 6 got to spend time on the ELS van, explore books and choose some for their classrooms.

  We had a FANTASTIC World Book Day!

  All classes celebrated by taking part in activities linked to books, authors and reading.

  We had an amazing assembly where the children were able to showcase their outfits and love for reading.

• Southglader of the Week - Ears and Eyes for Listening

  Today, we had our weekly Southglader of the Week assembly. All week, we have been thinking about the importance of good listening across school.

  Below are some of the children who have really impressed their teachers.

  Well done to everyone and it was great to hear that all of the teachers at Southglade had so many pupils that they could pick.

  

• Cricket Sports Visit

  On Tuesday 20th February, Mrs Finnie took a group of children to Harvey Hadden t get an experience of playing cricket. 

  The children learn the basics of cricket including catching a ball, rolling a ball, fielding and then batting.

  They had a brilliant time and Mrs Finnie was super impressed with the behaviour of the whole group. Well done!

  

• Exotic animal handling - Wollaton House Prize

  To celebrate winning the house prize for Spring 1, Wollaton house had a wonderful day where they got to meet 6 amazing animals. From stick insects to a frog, tarantula to a snake they were able to hold, handle and learn all about these mazing creatures from Jungle Jo. It is a day they will never forget. Well done Wollaton on a wonderful house win!

  

• Nursery Superhero day!

  We had so much fun on our Superhero day! Everyone dressed up and we all passed our Superhero training challenge!

  

• Royal Shakespeare Company Update

  This term year 5 have started work based on Macbeth using the Royal Shakespeare Company Pedagogies. We are exploring the text through choral reading and acting out sections. The children are really enjoying exploring the text and bringing it to life. It is a very immersive way of exploring a text. The children are captivated by the challenge of reading Shakespeare text.
