  • KS1 and KS2 Harvest Festival Service

Thu 10 Oct 2019 Mr Pegram

Today, children across KS1 and KS2 attended Bestwood Park Church to celebrate harvest. They sang a range of songs and attentively listened to Chris Easton speak about the importance of harvest and the importance of giving to those less fortunate than us.

Children brought up donations and poems were also read aloud to the audience.

It was a really great morning and we will definitely back as a Key Stage.

Thank-you to all of the parents and carers who generously donated- we really appreciated.

  • Year 5 and Year 6 Cross Country Tournament

Sun 06 Oct 2019 Mr Pegram and Mrs Finnie

On Monday 30th September, a group of Year 5 and Year 6 pupils took part in a Cross-Country tournament at Colwick Park.

The children were organised into 4 teams and had to run a lap around the small lake (a km in distance) before handing the relay baton onto the next team member.

All of the children gave 100% and they showcased the Southglade Way in every aspect of their behaviour. They showed pride and did their very best.

All of the teams finished in the top 12- a special mention to Jamil Clifford who showcased outstanding stamina and pace in his loop around the lake. Well done Jamil!

  • Pinnochio Theatre Visit

Sun 06 Oct 2019 Mr Pegram
On Monday 30th September, children from y2-y6 experienced a live performance of Pinnochio in the KS2 hall. They were dazzled by outstanding acting, dancing and singing and wowed by the amazing changes of costume and the swift transitions from scene to scene. After the performance, Year 6 were fortunate to learn more about how such a creative performance is put on learning some of the backstage secrets. All the children loved the performance- we cannot wait to have more live performances next year.
  • School Library Opening

    Fri 04 Oct 2019

Our new school library was officially opened today by Councillor Mellen. He was accompanied by Councillors Georgia Power, Audra Wynter and Jay Hayes.

Our children were treated to a story read by Cllr Mellen as well as being listened to read some of their favourite books.

It was a lovely way to celebrate our new library and already it is a place that our children love to visit.

A massive thank you once again to our Southglade parents and families who helped to raise more than £3000 towards the refurbishment of the space to create our wonderful library.
