'Believe to Achieve'

2021 Primary Partners/ Playhouse

The Playhouse- Primary Partners

We have been very lucky in that we have been partnered with The Playhouse for two years to do lots of exciting projects with our school.

The children will have the opportunity to see live theatre, to visit the Playhouse and work on projects with practitioners within school.

We can't wait to get started...

EYFS Primary Partnerships Visit

In Reception, we were lucky enough to be visited by some wonderful actors from Primary Partners Playhouse. The children took part in workshops in the morning and then watched a performance in the afternoon. They loved being involved in the performance and it was lovely to see some of them come out of their shell and show off their acting skills.

Beyond Bestwood- Behind the scenes

Today 28 Children visited the Playhouse from KS2, they had the opportunity to find out about behind the scenes.

We were greeted by Sarah and Adam and found out about the Sky mirror outside. We then went inside to explore props used in the play, the children loved holding and exploring how these were made. We then went into the auditorium and found out about the Theatre and how the staging and set moved about and also the technical areas of the theatre. The children asked many questions and were keen to find out lots of new things they never knew. Finally we had a workshop with an amazing designer Erin, she spoke to us about set design and costume and even gave the children the opportunity to share her sketch books. The children had time to think what costume items helped to show a character. Then during a working lunch the children had a go at designing their own. The children are now sharing what they found out with their classes.

Year 4 - Playscripts

Year 4 have just started their new genre of playscripts in English, we were very lucky to have Rob  an actor from the playhouse to come and and get them throughly excited about this new topic.

The children loved having Rob in. They started with a sword game to warm up and then were given different characters to act out a small scene about. E.g. one child was a shopkeeper, and their partner was a customer that wanted to buy something. The shopkeeper did not want to sell the item. Then, they worked in pairs to create two characters and decided what personality traits they might have. They used these characters as part of a script, and started to write a short conversation between the two characters before sharing their ideas at the end of the lesson.

In year 3 we had a visit from Tyrone the poet. He played some oracy games with the pupils which they loved. Then they gathered ideas and vocabulary about chocolate to write a poem. The children shared their poems and had a round of applause from the rest of the class. We created some super poems with poetry features.
