Igniting a 'LOVE for READING'
In order to encourage reading, we have incorporated 'love for reading' sessions into our weekly timetables. We introduce the children to a range of books to spark their interest, these are not linked to our topic. This means the children experience a wide range of literature, as they all have different interests. We plan a number of exciting and engaging activities linked to the focus book, bringing it to life!
Session 1: Create a front cover.
We read the blurb of the book and the children had to draw what they thought the front cover of the book looked like.
Session 2: Create a treasure map.
The children created their own treasure map for the pirates in the book to follow.
Session 3: Create a treasure box.
The children created their own treasure box containing gold, as this is what the pirates in the book were so close to obtaining!
