Southglade Primary School

'Believe to Achieve'

Our Vision and Ethos

Our Vision Statement...

Southglade is a happy and successful school where children are encouraged to ‘believe they can achieve’ in a safe and nurturing environment. We want to inspire our children to try their best (and be confident to make mistakes) in order to fulfil their own potential in all areas of learning and life. In order to achieve this we ensure that all our children are provided with a stimulating and creative book-based curriculum supported by a wealth and variety of enrichment activities both on and off the school site.

Our School Ethos...

  • To encourage children to believe they can achieve anything and have the confidence to make mistakes.
  • To have respect for everyone.
  • To make everyone feel valued.

Our Southglade Learning values...

We focus on one area of our school ethos each term to ensure our children understand and can articulate our ethos and how this links to their Southglade journey and beyond. We will deepen their understanding by including key vocabulary and key figures (three of each) which link to our PSHE teaching. The PSHE progression ladder statements have come from the RHE statements and have been redesigned to fit with the ethos focus each term so as a whole the PSHE teaching should all link together. We are also having a wellbeing Wednesday each term to address an area with specific objectives.

Well-Being Vision Statement

‘Wellbeing and mental health are at the heart of our school and our community. We believe having a mentally healthy community is about working together through the challenges and sharing the celebrations; feeling supported, heard, accepted, valued and empowered.’

At Southglade Primary School we will promote, develop and prepare healthy learners for life. We are committed to making it our mission to promote resilience, positive wellbeing and mental health for all our pupils, staff, parents and community. We understand wellbeing to be a state of being comfortable, healthy and happy. We aim to drive this message forward, and to ensure that mental health and well-being is “everyone’s business” across the whole school community. We will strive to create an environment that has a whole school approach, in providing excellent mental health support, understanding and intervention. We will put Wellbeing at the heart of our school to ensure successful learning, and commit to our policies reflecting this practise.
