Opener

Write sentences that use conjunctions to extend a sentence on the teaching video. Ensure that you use each conjunction successfully.

 

Main Lesson

Discuss the main features that will grab the reader's attention in a story opener. Recall the work that was completed back in January.

Watch the video Spy Fox up until 55 seconds (you can watch all the video later).

Your job will be to write an exciting opening to the video that would make the reader want to find out what will be happening in the rest of the video.

Watch some shared writing that your teacher in school will be demonstrating.

There is a writing frame within the work-pack to support children with their written work.

Example

It was a quiet, serene and peaceful day on the iceberg. A quiet peaceful day that seemed too good to be true. A quiet peaceful day that nothing could disturb. What could go possibly go wrong? The penguins were relaxing on their iceberg deep in the Southern Ocean. The more they had played with each other, the more content they had become.

 

It was at that precise moment it happened; a bolt of destruction from above that decimated and destroyed the iceberg in one peak of fury. Shocked, devastated and endangered, the innocent penguins found themselves in the Southern Ocean- floating in the cold wintry waters. What would they do next?

 

Meanwhile, in an unknown location was Dr Hammer and his troop of sardines. They had one aim- the aim to rule the world and destroy the polar ice caps across the globe... there was only one person who could save the day.

His name was Fox. Spy Fox.....
