This half term our class book is
'The Great Dragon bake Off' by Nicola Byrne
This book is a fantastic story about not such a typical dragon! He doesn't want to fight or fly but instead wants to do something else...
We will be exploring Design and Technology learning about what skills we need to cook and bake, thinking about how we will make an afternoon tea.
We will also be describing lots of food items and wonderful pictures of dragons!

Design and Technology - cooking
This half term we are exploring cooking and will be learning a range of skills including cutting, mixing, mashing and baking. We will be making our own afternoon tea to share with our family and this will use all these skills and more.
We cannot wait to show off what we learn including our designs.
Using our knowledge of cooking we made sandwiches, rocky road and Eton Mess including cutting, spreading, melting and mixing.
We had a go at making some 3D dragons in design and technology using tissue paper, cups and pom poms. We showed such perseverance and resilience and tried so hard to make our dragons. Really well done so proud of you all for trying so hard!
To finish our topic from last half term we designed a penguin boat for our penguin friend to get home meeting the criteria of materials from Science and Design and Technology
Immersive afternoon to introduce dragons and cooking
We had such a fun afternoon learning about our new book and taking part in lots of fun tasks including decorating cakes and making moving dragons. It was such a wonderful afternoon and we are so excited to do lots more cooking and making activities this half term.
