'Believe to Achieve'

What have we been up to?

To consolidate our maths topic of 2D and 3D shapes, we went on a shape hunt around school. We discussed shapes and then looked at where could spot them. We discussed the properties together and described the shapes to each other without the other person seeing them, to see if they could guess.

Today we followed a treasure map to find the X marks the spot.

We climbed carefully over the steep, snowy mountains, through the deep, dark cave, over to the tree tops with the parrots, jumped over stepping stones on the crocodile infested water, tiptoed through the quick sand and wound round the trees until we found the treasure!

Since we returned to school we have focused on PE and being active. We are taking part in Fitter Future everyday.

We carried out an experiment to find out what material was the best for an umbrella. We had a great fun trying to find out which material was the best, what changed with the materials when they were wet and the key properties.

We went on a pirate adventure! We made our own pirate hats, watched clips of pirates and then went on to the pirate ship to have our pirate adventure!

We began to plant some flowers in our Key Stage One Quad ready for Spring! We planted some flower seeds and herbs, thinking about what they needed to grow and making sure we got them ready to bloom.

We worked together during our English lesson to think about friendships based on our book. We thought about how to be kind and unkind, then worked together to think about what makes a good friend.

As part of our love for reading session, we discussed the illustrator Jennie Poh. We looked at some of the other animals she has painted, and used water colours to paint out own.

We created some scenes based on images of Africa, linked to the setting of Nigeria and Africa from our book 'The Pirate Tree'.

We used coloured paper and created an image based on artistic impressions and included an image of the tree.
