Ice Bar Trip

We have had the most amazing day! We visited the ice bar first of all, we got wrapped up in some cozy coats and then experienced -15 degrees! The sculptures inside were fantastic, there was even a unicorn carved out of ice. Some of the ice was carved into games for us to play. After the ice bar we warmed up with a tasty hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows. What an exciting day!

Maths- addition and subtraction

We have been working SO hard in Year 2 with addition and subtraction. Most recently we have been learning how to draw tens and ones to help us add and subtract larger numbers. We have recongised the importance of using number bonds to 10 to help us quickly add and subtract.

Have a go at some of the online games below to help you get even quicker at your addition and subtraction.

Creating abstract art

Over the last few weeks we have been learning about abstract art and how different artists create their own interpretations of abstract art using line, shape and colour.

We began by learning about Kandinsky and had a go at listening to music to see what shapes, colours and lines the music made us feel.

This week we have focussed on that artist Paul Klee. Like Kandinsky, he creates pieces of abstract art but he is well known for his use of line as the focus in his paintings. We used our knowledge of Paul Klee, colour mixing, tints and shades to create our own abstract art.

Our curriculum driver this half term in Art and our I wonder question is... I wonder how how i can use line, shape and colour to create an abstract piece of art.
