  • Year 6 Dodgeball Tournament

Wed 23 Jan 2019 Shantel and Demi

Yesterday, some wonderful year 6 children went on an adventurous dodgeball tournament to Harvey Hadden in Bilborough. It was a team of 10- 5 boys and 5 girls who were known to have a passion for dodgeball.

As we arrived, we noticed there were loads of schools that were taking part in this supreme event- it was an event that was just for fun!

The first school that we played against was an easy win for us. Then it was time for a break which was good for all of - by the end of the tournament we had played all 6 schools. No overall winner was declared but we did really well and think we came first.

By the end, we had won all but one of our games.

Everyone tried really hard and Mrs Finnie was really proud of us all.

  • Year 6 Southglade Football Fixture

Fri 18 Jan 2019 Mr Hunter

We met at the Southglade leisure centre on a cold Thursday evening to play two matches versus Westglade and Robin Hood.
Our first game against Westglade began well, we had numerous chances on goal : unfortunately we were not able to capitalise on the excellent chances that we had and we found ourselves 1-0 down at half time. This did not deter the team and they came out strong and again there were lots of missed shots on goal. Westglade scored an excellent goal and all of a sudden we were down 2-0. The team showed lots of resilience and kept going, Dantel scored with 2 minutes to go , then amazingly he scored again in the dying seconds to draw the match 2-2.

For our second game against Robin Hood we were now full of confidence and we scored four excellent goals in the first half to make it 4-0. Joel scored 2, Evanas and Trent scored the other two. Our team talk at half time was just to keep going and they did , scoring another 4 goals. Jude was now running the mid-field and was feeding our forwards with some excellent balls. Trent and Dantel scored 1 each and Joel completed his hat trick!

Robin Hood were finding it difficult to score due to excellent defensive play by Teelan and solid goalkeeping from Mason.

At the final whistle it was Southglade 8 Robin Hood 0.

Well done to the whole team ! We are all very proud of you!

  • Year 6 Cross Country Tournament

Wed 16 Jan 2019 Mr Pegram and Mrs Finnie

On Wednesday 16th January, 8 boys and 5 girls competed in a cross country tournament with about 400 other pupils from schools across Nottinghamshire. It was a wet and miserable day but this did not dampen the spirits of the children who competed magnificently- Mr Pegram and Mrs Finnie were exceptionally proud of you all. We missed out on qualifying for the next round by 1 position. Special mentions must go to Dantel who finished 8th (out of 200 boys); Aiden who finished 16th (out of 200 boys) and Shantel who finished 13th (out of 160 girls).

Congratulations to 5MH who were our attendance winners for the first term with a brilliant attendance of 98.1%. They had a special treat on Friday 11th January to celebrate their attendance victory- the pyjama party looked like loads of fun and is very much deserved.

    Keep up the brilliant attendance.
