'Believe to Achieve'

English

We kickstarted our time back in school with a trip into Tutankhamun's tomb! We imagined what it would have been like for Howard Carter when he discovered the tomb. This supported us with the start of our newspaper report text type.
In English this week, we focused on the skills that we would need to write our own report about the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb. We read parts of Howard Carter's diary aruond the time the tomb was discovered and then created emotion graphs to show how we thought Howard Carter was feeling at different points of his diary. We also looked at direct speech this week, and used balloons and direct speech from Howard Carter's diary to support us with our understanding of inverted commas.

This week, we started to write our newspaper reports. To support us with this, we also completed a big write on an important story- dinosaurs were taking over! We used the footage below to support us with writing our newspaper report.

Year 4 did such a good job of this and showed that they could independently plan and write their own newspaper report!
