'Believe to Achieve'

Week 2

What an exciting and busy first full week back we have had! It has been lovely to see all the children settling into routines at school and we have already seen some fantastic work from everyone.

English

In English we received a strange letter from Crispin the Dragon. He told us he really needed his help so we came up with ideas of how to help him. Later in the week, we noticed that objects from our classroom had gone missing- it was Crispin! So we wrote to the police with all our clues and they have asked us to make wanted posters to go up around Nottingham City. We've been told that they need lots of descriptive language so people know who to look out for, so we have been working really hard to practice using adjective and expanded noun phrases in our work!

Maths

In Maths we have been learning about place value. We have practiced recognising tens and ones within a number, using practical resources to make 2 digit numbers as well as recognising different ways a number can be represented. We have enjoyed having lots of practical lessons this week!

Curriculum

This week we have taken part in our first PE sessions of Year 2! 2S are working with Mr Parkes working on their hitting, catching and running skills. 2B have been learning different ball passing styles and have been looking at accuracy as well as controlled power.

In our curriculum lessons, we have started our topic 'The Great Fire of London'. We have enjoyed reading about what London was like in 1666 and comparing it to the modern day. We particularly find it funny that people didn't have toilets so had to throw their waste out of the windows into the streets! We also learnt about different job roles in 1666 and acted these out.
