'Believe to Achieve'

Monday

Spelling

This week we begin looking at a new suffix. This suffix is -ful meaning 'full of'. It is important to remember that unlike the word full, the suffix only has 1 'L'.

For most root words, we can simply add the suffix -ful. For example thankful.

Have a go at adding the suffix ful to these root words. Can you write a sentence for each word?

wonder

tear

care

help

pain

What is the silliest sentence you can think of?

English

This half term we are starting our new focus book- 'Sir Scallywag and the Golden Underpants'

Watch Mrs Bragg reading the book here-

Spring 2 focus book | Southglade Primary School (primarysite.media)

After watching the video think about;

  • What is your favourite part of the story?
  • Who is your favourite character?
  • Are there any parts of the story you don't like?
  • How has the author made the book interesting to read?

In the story Sir Scallywag is seen as being brave. How do we know he is brave? Can you re-watch the story and write down some ideas of how he is brave? Perhaps you could use key words and phrases from the story, or even draw pictures showing how Sir Scallywag shows bravery.

Maths

This week we are focussing on 3D shapes. Today you will need the net templates in your pack, some scissors and some glue as we are making 3D shapes!

We are counting the faces on 3D shapes today. Make sure you keep your 3D shapes for tomorrow's lesson!

Watch Miss Storer's video here: https://southglade.primarysite.media/media/faces-on-3d-shapes-22221

You can have a go at the worksheet below too.

Curriculum

Today we start our new enquiry question "What makes Nottingham special?".

Before you start todays learning, have a little think about what makes Nottingham special for you. Is it your house? Your friends or family? Your school? Your favourite shop or restaurant? A special landmark?

Use the pictures in your pack along with your own drawings, labelling and words and create a poster showing why Nottingham is special to you.

After you have completed the first task have a look at the powerpoint below. We are going to start learning all about Robin Hood. Who was he? Why is he important when we start looking at our enquiry question? Use the puppets in your pack to retell the story of Robin Hood- perhaps you could film it and send it in to your teacher!
