  • Summer 2

This half term our topic is mini beasts and our focus book is Superworm by Julia Donaldson

    Drama session with Mrs Dowse

We have also had a  drama session with Mrs Dowse this week. We have been practising the superform chant. We have been learning how to use our voices to express ourselves and how we can move our hands and arms to support the projection of our voice. We can't wait for more drama sessions!

    New arrivals- Caterpillars!

This week we have had our caterpillars arrive in class. We have been so excited watching them squirm around. We will watch them closely over the next couple of weeks and hopefully see them grow bigger and transform into chrysalis.

    Butterfly art

To celebrate our new arrivals we have tried some new butterfly art. We have enjoyed printing one half of our butterfly onto the otherside. Children added on antennae after our learning of minibeast features.

    Wellbeing day- health.

For our wellbeing day this term we have been learning all about how to care for ourselves and how to keep ourselves healthy. We started by exploring how food, exercise and sleep can affect our health. We then started to think about germs. We did a germ activity where children put their fingers into the pepper water. They noticed how the pepper stuck to their fingers when their fingers were dirty. We then dipped our fingers into soap before dipping it back into the pepper water. We observed how the pepper 'repelled' away from our fingers. This demonstrated how soap removes the germs from our hands. We then practised washing our hands. We sang Happy birthday to ensure we washed them for long enough to remove the germs.
