    What Went Well

    • 100% of parents that filled in the survey said the amount of work provided by school was enough.
    • The majority of parents found it really easy to get hold of the class teacher.
    • Videos were very useful and they were watched a lot by both parents and children.
    • All parents spoken to believed the home learning was better than the last lock down in March.

What parents identified and how we responded

Challenge within the level of work provided

Some parents identified that only sometimes the work was challenging for their child. We worked together as a staff team to carry out a remote learning audit to identify where challenge could be identified and how to move this forward. This included the content of the pack which was moderated across the year groups along with the the content of the website to ensure the work matched and the content of the website support the children.

    The following points were actioned:

    • Packs to have word banks included which should also be on the website
    • Challenges to be sent to individual children either via email or in packs if identified to support with Greater Depth extension eg Maths Nrcih cards, Grammar challenges
    • Challenges to be made explicitly clear on website and on work
    • Expectations to be made clear with the work for the different levels
    • Differentiated work sheets in the pack based on levels - staff to consider further differentiation particularly with challenges
    • Staff to use feedback from parents to support with specific work and bespoke targets
    • Writing tokens, grammar tokens and key vocabulary to be used for English
    • Teams sessions for Greater Depth children may be offered if skills can be developed

Some parents identified that they have limited data and were worried about what to do when they do when it is used up.

Work packs are created and collected by every parent weekly. We will ensure that the work provided is clear and easy to follow. It will have clear information on it which will support the child with completing the task should the internet or data no longer be available. We also have access to internet cards which we can make available to parents should there be any concerns with accessing technology. For any child or family who only have a telephone as their device to access the school website, we may also be able to provide a laptop. Class teachers will ask parents about this and complete the contact form, technology audit and inform a member of the safeguarding team.

    The following points were actioned:

    • Staff to ask families during weekly well being call what access they have to the internet and devices then update the technology form
    • Ensure the pack provided supports the child if their access to technology or data is limited by ensuring some work can be completed without the internet
    • Parents to be informed of internet cards which can become available with a school laptop if one is provided.
    • School laptops may be given to children and families who have identified that they only have a phone as their device.

Something extra for parents working from home that haven’t got the time to help as much.

As a staff team we are including as many supporting resources as possible to aid each child with their completion of work. We recognise that some children will require additional activities to completed independently to either extend, consolidate or develop their learning further. We have provided activities such as comprehensions, wordsearches, shape or vocabulary hunts or other activities which are similar, which can be completed without the adult supervision or once the other activities have been completed. Purple Mash is also available to every child with their own individual login. They have access to games and activities they can complete.

    The following points were actioned:

    • Packs to have extra work for the children to complete e.g. comprehension, wordsearch, vocabulary, grammar challenges, maths challenges
    • Purple Mash to be made available to each child which has a range of activities they are able to complete which can support them with a range of different academic skills including computing, Maths and English.

Well- being - some parents were worried about their children not having any interactions with their peers

Weekly PSHE Teams sessions are going to be set up for each class and Year Group to get together. Parents will be supported to set this up if required including a guide and support over the phone and email. We will ask for videos to be sent in of the children to be put on the website (depending on GDPR and parental consent) to allow children to see and hear each other. Photographs will also be put on the website for children to see what each other has been doing.

    The following points were actioned:

    • Weekly PSHE class and year group sessions (including time to talk)
    • Look in to hosting small group teaching sessions to help each with interaction
    • Refer to Learning Mentors if required
    • Explore other platforms which will allow for children to virtually meet in a secure and safe environment
