  • Playground Development Update

We are delighted to share the latest update on Phase 3 of our school rebuild project: the development of our brand-new school playground.

This week, Mrs Thomas and Mrs Rowlett met with representatives from the Department for Education (DfE) to receive an update on the project. We are pleased to report that work is progressing well, and it is fantastic to see our vision beginning to take shape.

One of the most exciting milestones so far is the installation of the new MUGA, which is now in place. Contractors have also begun digging out and preparing the other areas of the site ready for the next stages of development.

There is still plenty of work to be completed over the coming weeks, including the installation of the new climbing frame, trim trail, canopy and outdoor classroom. In addition, work will take place on creating a brand-new grass football pitch for our children to enjoy.

We are incredibly excited about how the project is developing and cannot wait to see the finished result when pupils return in September. The new facilities will provide amazing opportunities for outdoor learning, play, sport and physical development for many years to come.

To ensure the project remains on track and is ready for September, there will be some temporary changes from next week (w/c 29 June 2026). Access to the school field will need to be closed while construction continues. This means we will have significantly reduced outdoor space available during the school day.

Unfortunately, this will impact lunchtimes and playtimes. Children may have less time outside than usual, and with the space available, activities such as football and some running games will not be possible for a short period. We know this will be disappointing, but we are confident that everyone will work together to make the best of the situation.

The temporary inconvenience will be well worth it. We truly believe that the finished project will provide the very best play facilities in Bestwood – and perhaps even in Nottinghamshire, or dare we say, England!

Thank you to our pupils, staff, parents and carers for your continued patience and support. We look forward to sharing more updates as the work progresses and counting down the days until we can officially open our incredible new school in September.

Watch this space for further updates! 🌟⚽🏃‍♀️🌳🏫
