Applying for School Places

The deadline for applying for secondary places in year 7 for the academic year 205/26 will be the 31st October 2025. Please ensure that your application is submitted by this date. If you submit your application after this date then this may reduce your chances of getting a place at your preferred school.

Transition to Secondary

You will find out which secondary school your child has been allocated towards the start of March.

Southglade Primary and Nursery School will then work closely with the receiving secondary schools to share all important information to help ensure a smooth and successful transition from primary to secondary school.

For the last 2 academic years we have used the Transition Portal which all Nottingham City Schools signed up to.

Once children have completed their SATS, we will ensure they are fully prepared for the start of their new chapter to secondary school.

All pupils will spend at least one day at their new secondary school- these tend to be at the start of July. Precise details vary from school to school.

All pupils will complete work linked to their transition to secondary school within their PSHE lessons. A school trip to Nottingham Trent University also considers transitions that children might consider during their time in education.

Some pupils will be identified for extra support. This might be due to a diagnosis for autism where they will be supported by a member of the Autism Transition Team or a different vulnerability where they may be invited for extra transition sessions by their new secondary school.

Some pupils may also be taken for extra visits by our school ELSA or Family Support Worker.

Common Transfer Day

Transition days will be confirmed by secondary schools. Most pupils will be at their new secondary schools on Wednesday 1st July.
