A very warm welcome to the Southglade Primary and Nursery School website. My name is Alison Thomas and I am the Headteacher.

Southglade is a happy and successful school where children are encouraged to “believe they can achieve” in a safe and nurturing environment. We aim to inspire our children to try their very best (and be confident to make mistakes) so that they can fulfil their own potential in all areas of learning and life. In doing so, we are proud to nurture our pupils to become true Southgladers—confident, considerate and ambitious young people who take pride in themselves and their community. To achieve this, we provide a stimulating and creative book-based curriculum, enriched by a wide variety of experiences both on and off the school site.

We are also incredibly proud to have moved into our fantastic new school building in April 2026. Our children and staff are thriving in these wonderful, modern facilities, and we feel very fortunate to have such an inspiring environment in which to learn. We are equally excited about the final phase of our development, with our playground transformation due for completion in Autumn 2026, which will enhance even further the opportunities for play, creativity and outdoor learning.

The standards of behaviour at Southglade are good, and visitors frequently comment on the politeness of our children. How we treat one another is hugely important to us and we ensure that all our pupils show RESPECT, making everyone feel valued and included.

Quite simply, Southglade Primary and Nursery School is a wonderful place to learn. I feel extremely lucky to work with such a dedicated and enthusiastic team of staff and governors, all of whom are committed to ensuring that every child is happy and achieves their full potential.
