Reducing the Number of Pupils Classed as Persistently Absent

Attending school everyday is crucial in promoting a love of learning. As a school we are still continuing to work on reducing the number of children classed as persistently absent and improving the overall attendance % of the whole school.

We will continue to follow our attendance process for tackling families whose children are classed as persistently absent.

We will meet with families and discuss the barriers that are stopping their children from attending school and as a team work to create solutions to overcome these barriers.

We will liaise with other external agencies where appropriate to improve the attendance of targeted pupils.

We will set challenging attendance targets for all pupils and recognise improvements through rewards and positive praise.

We will support families in difficult times and support them with getting their children to school.

We will introduce house points this year to reward classes with the best attendance.

We will continue to have an attendance bear, the wheel of fortune and attendance displays across school to raise the profile of attendance.

We will continue to call parents in the morning if their child's attendance is a concern and they are not at school and make home visits where appropriate.

We will continue to look at the attendance of different groups including SEND and disadvantaged pupils.
