I hope you have all had a wonderful Easter and are ready for the new term ahead.
Below is an outline of what your child will be learning about this term.
Maths – Number, place value, multiplication and division, decimals, fractions and percentages, time and data, angles and polygons.
Literacy – Myths and Legends, Non-chronological reports, debate, poetry and fantasy writing.
To ensure your child reaches their full potential in reading, it is essential that they read to an adult at home, preferably each day and have their books and diaries in school every day. If you can spare one morning or afternoon each week or alternate weeks to help with listening to the children read in class I would be very grateful.
Your child will be bringing home spellings to learn. These will be tested each week in class. Could you please help your child learn these at home.
Topic – The book we are reading this term is The lightning Thief by Rick Riordan. This is a fantastic book set in Ancient Greece and all our topic will be based on Ancient Greece.
P.E – Please ensure your child has their kit on Monday of each week. The school P.E. kit is white t-shirt and black shorts.
I hope you have enjoyed looking at our Blog this year, the children certainly have. I will be continuing to post children’s writing and I-pad projects we have been doing in class. You can make a comment on any of the children’s work on the blog, all you need is an e-mail for verification purposes. The link for the blog is on the school website.
So that your child has access to a drink of water throughout the day could you please send a labelled drinks bottle in to school that we can keep in the classroom to fill up daily.
Finally I would like to say a big thank you to all parents/carers who get their child in school by 8.45 each day. The children are rewarded in school for their good attendance. It is highly disruptive to a child’s education to miss any learning; quite simply children who have least time off school and are punctual, do best.
If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to ask.
