Spring Term 10
Dear Parents/ Carers
Welcome to the New Year! Below is an outline of what we will be learning about this term.
Maths: Developing understanding of multiplication and division and consolidating knowledge of the 2, 5 and 10 times tables. Investigating place value including using hundreds as well as tens and units. Remember to use Mathletics at home to help develop skills!
Literacy: Developing the children’s ability to write clearly and at greater length using adjectives and connectives to develop an interest to others who read their work. Children will continue to learn phonics appropriate to their level in a small group daily.
Due to timetable changes Guided Reading will be taking place in the afternoons.
Topic: Our Amazing World! Investigating electricity, great inventors, what an island is including mapping skills and finding out about Aboriginal Art.
P.E. : Please ensure your child has their kit on the appropriate days;
Class 9 –Tuesday & Thursday
Class 10 – Tuesday & Friday
For safety reasons all long hair tied back and earrings either removed or plasters sent in to cover earlobe.
Please keep an eye on the Parents notice board in each classroom as occasionally new notices will be posted there.
THANK YOU to all parents/ carers who are ensuring their child is in school by 8:45 each day. As a year group Y2 punctuality and attendance continues to be good. As a result we are very pleased with the children’s progress.
Quite simply;
Children who attend school most regularly = Children who are most likely to reach their potential!
If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to ask.
Regards Year 2 Team
